Our aim is to bring health and love to all animals, bring pet owners together, and increase communication in the pet community. With this mission in mind, we have initiated the “VSPETS No Pet Left Behind” Act. At VSPETS, we want to extend our hands to the paws. As part of the Act, we want to publicize three ways to help animals.
1. Familiarize yourself with ways to report animal cruelty in your area.
2. Volunteer at animal shelters, rescue organizations or even to your neighbor whose pet is in need of attention.
3. Start a food bank for pets in your community.
On Tuesdays, VSPETS makes effort to bring pet awareness into the pet community. Below is some information from The Humane Society regarding animal cruelty and neglect.
Animal cruelty can be either deliberate abuse or simply the failure to take care of an animal. Either way, and whether the animal is a pet, a farm animal, or wildlife, the victim can suffer terribly. Don’t despair, though—anyone can take steps against cruelty.
Animal cruelty is illegal in every state (and a felony in 46). If you make a report of alleged animal cruelty, the responding agency is required to investigate.
If you think an animal is being abused, either through violence or through cruel neglect, you can take action to help!
Make the call: Most large municipalities have a local animal control department, animal shelter or humane society. Do an online search to identify the agency in your area, and program the number into your cell phone so you are prepared.
Document the details: When you make the call, tell the officer as many details of the situation as you can—i.e., the location, date and time, and descriptions of the people and animals involved. Video and photographic documentation (even a cell phone photo) can help bolster your case. It’s also useful to give names of others who may have witnessed the incident.
VSPETS Support The Pets Day: Thinking about getting a pet? Millions of companion animals in shelters across America are just waiting for a special home like yours. Navigating the adoption process isn’t as hard as you think. The Humane Society can help you find the perfect pet and discover how amazing adopting a pet can be.
Every Tuesdays at VSPETS is Support The Pets Day. We would like to let all our members and friends know that we are supporters of pets and that every activity on our website and likes on facebook goes towards “VSPETS’ No Pet Left Behind Act.” For more information, please visit our Support The Pets page.
Every Tuesday, VSPETS will be making efforts to bring awareness towards specific topics for supporting the pets in the pet community. For today, we would like to point out two organization that we strongly support.
